Success Stories
A Story that "bears" telling ...
A Recent Project of STUFF CANADA December 2000
As a broker, STUFF CANADA receives items for donation that are as varied as the organizations and individuals placing the calls to us. Some examples of the more unusual items we have been asked to
place into the hands of charities were a truck load of adult diapers, a full size Hammond organ, and 300 new two-piece track suits. But none has been more unusual than a donation of 200 cases of
gummy bears. In addition, when the charity arrived at the donor’s warehouse to pickup the load of sweets, they were also given 100 cases of gum, and the promise of future donations.
Here is
the best part; the donor has given their permission for the charity to sell all these goodies as a fund-raiser. The proceeds will enable the charity’s struggling shelter and food depot to re-vitalize
itself with an infusion of urgently needed dollars. Most often businesses find themselves with excess inventory which takes up valuable space, and eventually they are forced to hire
trucking to get this surplus inventory to the dump, incurring trucking, labour and dumping fees.
We are encouraged to find a growing number of companies who are seeking opportunities to contribute to the Not-For-Profit sector, and even inspire others to also make a significant impact on the community. How "sweet" it is for everyone involved.
